Urban Sensorium is a research project exploring how children aged 2-7 use their senses to learn and how urban interior design can enhance this process. Grounded in developmental theories, it emphasises the importance of sensory-rich environments for cognitive growth and creative play. With Melbourne’s CBD lacking child-friendly spaces, the project proposes a network of sensory-engaging playgrounds integrated into the urban fabric. These designs, inspired by the seven senses, aim to foster exploration, independent play, and a deeper connection between children and their surroundings, ultimately making the city more inclusive and adaptable to young residents' needs.
